About
Sarah...
She
is a 15-year-old sophomore at Newberry High School. She is very involved
with high school chorus, her church choir at Central United Methodist
Church and often performs with the Newberry Community Players. She
has taken guitar at Munson Music since she was 7 or 8. Sarah recently
returned from her second summer at Governor’s School for the Arts.
From a musical family, her parents (Ann & Merritt Moseley) were
finalists in 2004 and her Dad was competing against her this year
as a member of the band Grand Illusion. Merritt admitted that he voted
for Sarah himself and was thrilled with the outcome. Her brothers
(Will and Josh Moseley) were honorable mentions for this year competition.
Sarah loves all music, but describes the music she performs as "today’s
country mixed with Classic and Southern rock and always a little classical
too because I have some classical training." She wrote several
new songs while at Governor’s School and hopes to write more this
year. When asked what interested her in entering, Sarah said, "Ever
since I heard about Local Legends, I wanted to enter. I loved watching
my Mom and Dad at the Opera House the year they were finalists, and
I always wanted to perform at the Opera House [as an individual performer]
just on time."
Sarah got her chance to perform at the Newberry Opera House during
the 2006 Local Legends Concert on August 12. All finalists performed
at the concert with extra time for this year’s winner.
